Mecklenburg-Vorpommern EN

A stunning holiday – it’s in our nature

Midway between the cities of Berlin and Hamburg lies a picturesque spot which has fascinated visitors from all over the world for centuries. Fine sandy beaches and white chalk cliffs, fashionable Baltic resorts and cosy fishing villages, sky-high brick churches and fairytale castles invite you to go on an exciting journey of discovery - on foot, by bike or boat.

Mecklenburg-Vorpommern has a particularly moving past. The region wrote European cultural history with the Hanseatic League in the Middle Ages. In the seaside towns, the office buildings of the Kontorhäuser and harbour warehouses still radiate a medieval and maritime flair. Princes and dukes bequeathed 2,000 palaces, parks and manor houses to these federal states - hardly any other region in Europe has so many.

The refreshing holiday paradise is also rich in water. With almost 2,000 kilometres of Baltic coastline and more than 2,000 lakes, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is the largest bathtub in Germany and has the best network system of any water sports region. Added to this, is the sheer abundance of sunshine. The sun shines here longer than anywhere else in Germany.

Besides the sunshine, numerous hotels and wellness temples are on hand to cosset holiday guests. Whether just for a few days or for several weeks, whether an active holiday or a city break - Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is worth at least one visit, no matter the season.
