The Association "Deutsches Küstenland" Top of Germany

Deutsches Küstenland (DKL) is a marketing alliance of the five Northern German Federal Lands of Hamburg, Bremen, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Lower Saxony, Schleswig-Holstein and the Hanseatic City of Lübeck. The alliance, which was founded in 1999 in Bremen, is dedicated to contribute to the increase of overnight stays of foreign travellers in Northern Germany.

The Association exclusively promotes the Northern German region in selected source markets which promise to be markets with a substential potential for the entire region.

The source markets, conjointly defined with the DZT after a careful analysis, are presently Poland and Sweden. The activities in these two markets mainly focus on an increase of the awareness among trade professionals and travellers of Northern Germany and the sites and offers of the region.

The two main marketing goals of the DKL correspond with the overriding goals which the DZT pursues with its work for Germany as a travel destination.

The major objective in these two markets is:

  • to strengthen the awareness and the interest in the Region of the German Coast Line
  • the promotion of the overnight stays from the commonly defined source markets Italy and Russia

The goals are to be reached by the realisation of comprehensive marketing measures in the B2B area. The DKL concentrates on a close cooperation with key accounts in the area of trade and media.
