Hamburg: For a day out to remember, visit Hamburg's zoo "Hagenbecks Tierpark" or go shopping in the countless shopping streets around the Jungfernstieg or in the designer shops on the Neuer Wall. Bremen - Germany's city of air and space travel is proud to show the town's "Fallturm" ("Drop Tower"), the only one of its kind in the world, built for experiments in micro gravity. The doors of Germany's largest exporting brewery are also open - after a tour of Beck's you can taste the wares. Beer flows over in October during the Bremer Freimarkt, the largest festival in northern Germany, and during the world's greatest indoor cycling race, a six-day event. Bremen is also home to the "German Open", the horseracing event with the highest stakes in the world.
The air in Lübeck is laden with the strains of music coming from "Dr. Jazz Club", concerts in the major churches, from the conservatory Musikhochschule and from the Music and Congress Centre, as well as the summer theatre showings at the open-air stage (Freilichtbühne) on the Wallanlagen, the city walls.
