Mecklenburg-Vorpommern

Most guests in Mecklenburg Vorpommern are happy in the first week with only a towel and some sun cream. Some hire a boat in the quiet hinterland, row out to the middle of the lake and stare into space. Aimlessly they idle over the water and think about God and the world. The dreams of our smaller guests come true with the abundant amount of water and sand and bucket and spade.
In the second week the holiday makers usually start to saunter. Over promenades and piers, over markets and boulevards, in parks and castle grounds. Lastly curiosity gets the upper hand. Then strangers start to explore the unique Nature Reserves. They break out on foot, by bicycle, by boat or on horse back to new horizons. Meanwhile others take a time walk through the cities rich in tradition. While the Hanse cities impress with their filigree decorated town Halls, the typical step like gables belonging to the red brick Gothic, massive walls and gateways, which tell many trade and seafaring stories, however in the royal cities everything revolves around the magnificent castles and splendid gardens. For over 700 years - apart from two short breaks - Schwerin is the centre of this state. The picturesque and turreted castle even today puts others far and near in the shade.
